How do I use the UK VAT calculator?

  1. 1 Choose a mode. Select Add VAT to go from a net price to a gross price, or Remove VAT to go the other way. Use Switch to flip quickly.

What are the VAT formulas?

Add VAT

Gross = Net × (1 + rate ÷ 100)

VAT = Net × rate ÷ 100

Remove VAT

Net = Gross ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100)

VAT = Gross − Net

Example at 20%: a net price of £100.00 becomes £120.00 gross (VAT £20.00). Reversing it, £120.00 gross is £100.00 net.

What are the UK VAT rates?
